ABOUT QWICKET DESIGN

My name is Stephan Lemon – greetings and salutations - and I started Qwicket Design in 2005 after agreeing to create a website for a friend.  Upon realizing that many web design companies charged exorbitant rates to create and maintain simple websites, I was struck with the idea that it doesn’t need to be that way.  I can create the same website and charge a fraction of what those mega companies do, all the while offering a better overall experience.  And that’s just what I did.

I specialize in helping small businesses and non-profits design, maintain and sometimes enhance their web presence but do it for a fraction of the cost and headache of larger web design companies.  I've been designing and maintaining a number of websites, as well as other custom design services, for that past 9 years.  I believe that while a website can in many ways serve as the "front door" for your small business or non-profit it is still a luxury item that you shouldn't have to pay an exorbitant amount of money to maintain.

My philosophy is that you shouldn't be wary of making changes/updates to your site because of the cost involved.  I'm aware that there are companies that charge a lot of money for even the smallest changes and I've been able to charge sometimes 50-100% less for the same service.  Additionally, I can usually make same-day changes and, as a 1-man band, I take a great deal of personal pride in the quality of my work.

I can keep costs down by not offering many of the fancy bells and whistles others offer, but I can handle mailing lists, developing an email presence and setting up e-commerce stores as well as maintaining a Facebook/Twitter page.

In 2006, I branched out to include print design services, such as the standard business cards, brochures and pamphlets as well as full publications, logo design and branding. I also have a lot of fun helping clients design special custom projects like unique collages, posters and holiday cards.  Recently, I’ve also been offering basic photography and photo enhancement services.

WHY “QWICKET”

Why “Qwicket” Design, you ask?  In addition to my yeoman design work, I’m a father of twin girls, 12-year-olds Cricket and Samantha, the latter rockin’ her “dropped R” and calling her sister “Qwicket” for a short while, which is insanely cute and, I thought, a moniker worthy of slapping on a small design business.  And that’s just what I did.

ABOUT ME

I received my degree in Communications, with a concentration in television production, from James Madison University in 1996.  After 11 years serving in various capacities in sports media relations at the collegiate level, I decided to start Qwicket Design in an effort to capitalize on my design skills by helping small businesses maintain their websites without the hassle and cost.

When I’m not in front of a computer screen murdering my eyes, I enjoy woodworking, gardening, and finding new reasons not to exercise.
